“One of our most heartwarming initiatives has been building a backyard playground with the Million Dollar Smiles Foundation for a child living with a life-threatening illness. This project reflects the spirit of our people—coming together to create joy, hope, and unforgettable memories for a family in need.” Kirsty Hynds,  Magil Construction

How michael + clark construction builds community: Canstruction

Canstruction is more than a design and engineering competition; it’s a movement that brings together the creativity of architects, engineers, students, and volunteers to build giant structures entirely out of canned goods. Once the event concludes, all the food used in these creations is donated to the London Food Bank, helping to support individuals and families in our community who need it most.

The annual project involves LDCA member companies who use their ingenuity and creativity to create structures using only canned goods. this years competition featured LDCA members Co-Elevate, Dillon, EllisDon, J-AAR, MTE Consultants, and  Strik Baldinelli Moniz.

As the proud host of Canstruction London, Michael + Clark Construction is deeply committed to the spirit of this initiative. Each year, we’re fortunate to leverage our network to connect incredible local businesses—not only to raise awareness about the food insecurity needs in our community, but to support those who benefit most. In 2025, we were thrilled to see just over 17,000 non-perishable food items donated, which translates to 20,710 lbs in London Food Bank terms. We also raised $1,100 through voting and monetary contributions during the 10-day voting phase, with every dollar going directly to Salvation Army London Family Services and the London Food Bank.
