Human Resources (HR) is a potential employee’s first impression.  HR needs to ensure they screen for good culture fit when bringing in new hires.  HR is to be transparent and upfront when setting expectations.  Those expectations need to be recorded in writing. 

HR needs to be consistent; ensuring that company policies are written fairly and followed by employees.  They often play the role of mediator during conflict and restores positive working relationships.

They play an important role in budget control by negotiating better benefits rates and ensuring realistic wages are set to meet the industry standards.  HR develops performance management systems to ensure that employees are in suitable job for their skills and also is responsible for the training and development plan of the employee’s skills and qualifications.  These training plans aid in succession planning; ensuring that the business can sustain the natural progression of employee’s career paths.


HR needs to understand what motivates employees and is to ensure that the workforce embraces the company’s philosophy and principles, while maintaining the corporate image.
