If you move soil, even if you sub it out, you want to be aware of how your risk is changing.

In December 2019, Ontario’s Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) filed the long-awaited On-Site and Excess Soil Management Regulation (Excess Soil Regulation) and complementary amendments to Ontario’s Waste Management and Brownfield regulations.  The Excess Soil Regulation and complementary regulatory amendments will come into legal force in phases.  Property owners, developers, consultants, municipalities, and the construction industry as a whole, will all be affected.  This new excess soil regime will apply to all construction projects where excess soil is generated, and with this will come new risks and legal requirements for the construction industry.

On March 11, 2020, join leading practitioners; (Marsh Canada), Grant Walsom (XCG Consulting Limited), Matt Gardner (Willms & Shier Environmental Lawyers LLP), and J.P. Marini (Terranova Environmental Services Inc.) for a program at the London District Construction Association to learn about what steps you need to take to ensure that you are up to date on Ontario’s new excess soil laws.
